Habitat of Frederick is grateful for all donations to its ReStore. These help Habitat raise money to build affordable homes for hardworking people in need throughout the County. However, legal restrictions and limited storage capacity may prevent us from accepting some donations.

All items must be in good usable condition. Some items must be of a minimum size, as indicated below. Appliances must be complete and in 100% working order. Some appliances are subject to testing before acceptance. Include the owner’s manual if available.

Ask a staff member for a receipt when you donate. ReStore does not place a value on your donated items for tax deduction purposes.



What Items are Needed at the ReStore?

We need home improvement items that are in like-new or very good condition. The following items are in demand:


• Tools that are in working condition
• Kitchen and Bath Cabinets (Full sets)
• Appliances that are less than 10 years old. We currently have a higher demand for refrigerators and washers and dryers
• Light fixtures in brushed nickel or bronze
• Furniture that is in excellent condition (newer designs)
• Tubs and showers that are in excellent condition
• Brushed nickel or bronze hardware

What Items Are we Unable to Accept?

We cannot accept items that are in poor condition. Please remember, if you would not put it in your home, no one else would either. Items that are broken, missing parts, dirty, inoperable, or out of date may be turned down even if they are items we typically accept. The following items are not in demand and will at this time not be accepted:


• Used toilets
• Mattresses and box springs
• Used carpets
• Upholstered furnishings that are stained, worn, or dirty
• Any items with missing parts/pieces
• Lumber under 6'long or with nails
• Single pane windows and sashes
• Used showers and door pans
• Used sink tops over 48"long
• Floor tile less than 10sq. ft.
• Blinds (unless new and still in the box)
• Stainless steel kitchen sinks (until further notice)
• Laminate countertops (until further notice)
• Builder's grade brass and glass (until further notice)
• Large desks or China cabinets (until further notice)
